I just saw two of my tiles in "real life" and my signature and copyright notices are faint or not there at all. The two I have seen have the info near the edges on dark colored backgrounds and they seem to have simply filled in. Is this a problem with all tiles, or just dark colors? Or just near the edges regardless of the shade of the color? Will making the info bolder fix the problem? I have dozens of designs posted! Arrgh, it will take days to fix if I have to do them all! Thanks! Jane Walker

You didn't say which image exactly, but taking a quick look at your shop, some of the tiles I could see a copyright on did look rather small and indistinct in the preview and I'd say might be a problem. If the lines are too fine or the colors too subtle they might disappear when printed.

The printing on ceramics is a bit "softer" than on paper, but shouldn't be blurry... how did the whole tile look? If you think it might have been an accidental mis-print you can call and ask for them to reprint it and see if that helps.

How do the images look when printed out 4.25" inches tall on your home printer? If it's hard to read on paper I would definitely watch out on ceramics which take ink a bit less crisply than on paper.

In general, with dark letters on light you can get away with smaller type than if you are doing light letters on dark. Higher contrast and simpler fonts are more distinct at a smaller size. Or you could make the text bigger.

What size are your images? Some people have found that making images exactly the size of the template (rather than creating the image very large and shrinking it down) helps them get crisper lines.

Hope that helps

Thanks! From what you said, I believe I need to go through and increase the thickness and contrast of the copyright on most of the tiles--I found that if I hold the tiles in direct sunlight I can see the copyright notice; it's somewhat filled in and very faint. I have printed them on paper, but I have a very good printer, so maybe I need to print at a low res. to get a more accurate sample. It's a fine line between unreadable and intrusive...I don't want the notice to be distracting!
