Hi

I am a total newb to cafepress. our logo was designed and prepared by someone else to upload to our shop. Now, I'd like to create different slogans to put on either the front or back of our shirts. Is there a simple, free program I can use to do this myself?

Thanks

The first folder in this forum is titled
FREE GRAPHICS SOFTWARE! I recommend checking it out.

One of the best programs for free is called "GIMP"

available at http://www.gimp.org

However, it has a learning curve.

I prefer Inkscape for text because it is a 'vector' graphics program. You are working with editable shapes on an almost limitless canvas. GIMP is a 'raster' graphics program. You're virtually painting with grains of colored sand, ie pixels. In Inkscape you set your page size but you have an unlimited area around it to put extra pieces. The text can be edited at any time and you can convert them to paths (shapes) to do modifications like extending parts or adding other shapes. I can easily do drop shadows, linear gradients and outlines on text in Inkscape.

You can add photos to your design too. When you export to PNG you can choose to only export the page area. Inkscape is free and works in PC, Mac and Linux. Check out 'heathenX' on YouTube for Inkscape tutorials.

I have used Illustrator but decided to go Open Source (software) when I bought my MacBook. I do miss the way Illustrator handles odd shaped gradients but I think there is a workaround in Inkscape.
