Okay... so I have a few logos loaded up... and they look great... even on the dark T-Shirts... but what about the Dark Hats and Polo shirts. I see this white oval around where the logo is to go. Is this white oval part of the item? .. aka.. I should choose a logo that requires a white background?

The white appliques on black hats, polos, etc, are what your design must fit on as that is what it is printed on. For "embroidery," CafePress prints on a pre-embroidered blank to give a similated embroidery effect, which is not to be confused with actual embroidery.

So on a black polo... with a transparent logo provided... it's going to be put on a white oval on the shirt?

Correct. With good contrast and a bright background the Infinistich is really nice - but it can't handle transparent backgrounds.

The entire area can be printed, in fact, for the Infinistitch products, a white background is not recommended. Hereis some additional info on designing for Infinistitch. There is a link on the left of that page for templates, as well.

The black cap with an oval patch is not an Infinistitch product.
