Hey I was wondering if a design was interchangeable or do I have to resize it for each product I place it on?

It depends on the product. If the design areas are the same shape (aspect ratio) then they can share the same image regardless of size. If the design area is not a bleed product e.g. a T-shirt you are not required to use all of it and can use any shape you wish. If the product is a bleed product it will look best with a colored background. If it has a colored background it must be precisely the right shape, although again there is flexibility on size. If the image for the bleed product has a white background then there is more flexibility in shape.

One image for all products is best. First because it’s less work, second it helps to gain position in the MP because all activity would boost the rank of the one image.

You also want the image to look it’s best for each product so you do want to take the time to do it right.

It helps if you set up 3 hidden sections. One section has all the products adjusted for an image height > width, next section is width > height and then a section that has a square image.

With all the products in each section pre-adjusted in their section, if your designs maintain those image ratios you can just import the products from the appropriate section to the new section then replace the images.

I can't agree. I think square images on items such as the bumper sticker, license frame, oval ornament and other items far out of square look really bad. Images intended for clocks usually look silly on most other items. Images intended for t-shirts are generally not well designed for clocks.

If designers are going to bother actually putting up items for sale I'd like to see them put their best foot forward and create products that are more than passable.

Diane, I think rjh means that as much as possible, one image is best. (?) S/he discussed having three hidden sections, one for different aspect ratios. If that wasn't the intent, then that's still a good suggestion and I would possibly expand it to having a bumper sticker section, oval sticker section, etc. with the various multi-packs already in and ready to apply an image to that is already resized for best use.

If you can make one image work for a large group of products, then make it work.

Having seen innumerable people literally use one image for all products I think that being clear is important.

License plates and some other items have to be done seperately in most cases but teesed is correct in his interpretation.

One image where possible with pre-adjusted template sections. Always make the product look good.

Oh yeah, I -l-o-v-e seeing a 3000x3000 T-shirt image stuck in the middle of a Bumper Sticker, or sticker. Especially when they come up in the MarketPlace - gives customers a great opinion of the quality of what they'll find here (as there are far too many who do exactly that).
