I recently purchased a mug from my shop. I used the template, so I think the image was sized right, but on the actual mug, the image was much closer to the handle on one side than on the other. Does this happen with all the mugs, or did this one just happen to be off? I'm wondering if I need to adjust the image, or if it should be all right on the next mug.

Did you use the 'full' template? (or place an image inside the boundary?) Meaning fill up the template so the graphic was the full size and proportion of the template.

Next. Did you 'move' the image using the little positioning device on the page where you select the image? Centering it on the mug.

Nothing else to do. I find the templates to be lacking in enough layout lines for my taste and I make my own. So consider that too.

There really is nothing else to do. All quite simple.

If you were sized length wise a little smaller than the full number of pixels allowed, then you would want to be sure to use the centering device to keep it centered. Otherwise, the image would end up closer to one end than the other.

Thanks for the replies. This is the mug http://www.cafepress.com/scooting_ozarks.364218153 I covered the entire template with the background and used the guidelines only for positioning the logos on top of the background. On the mug I received the printed area comes closer to the handle on one side than on the other. I was wondering if this is the case on all the mugs, or if they just got the positioning off on this one mug?

Print and cut out the image you used and see how the logos position themselves when you wrap the printout around the mug you received. This might give you an idea whether it was the image or the printing process.

If it looks like all is well with the image, call and ask for a replacement. If the image you print out and wrap looks like it may have caused the problem, give it a fix.

When I make a wrap around image for a mug, I always select the center position when creating the mug. This is up in the FAQ and may help: Making a mug.

Thanks for the link, MP, I had overlooked that one. Now that I have one of the mugs, I'll start using it and my printer to test images. Thanks to everyone for the replies.

You're welcome. Let us know the outcome.

One other thing, and I'm not sure about this but maybe someone can clarify.

If you find you have to tweak the image to have it centered properly, and ask for a replacement, I believe that the replacement is printed from a saved image of the original order--not the new tweaked image. A new order would use the new tweaked image.

Hope that makes sense.

I always print mine out too. The template is not accurate; the guides are off slightly. It has been like this for over a year. We've all complained. Welcome to CP.
