I'm allowing affiliate info to "pass through" like you can do with CPShop.

Simply add "?pid=(your cj pid)&xid=(your cp account id)&sid=(your tracking sid)" to any page and we will set a 60-day cookie and pass your information through to the CP cart.

I am also looking to add a setting for a tracking code to pass through as well so you can see traffic from your cookied visitors.

Testing has been done, but please let me know immediately if you see anything that needs to be fixed. And feedback is welcome. Thank you.

We have recently released a new Obama shirt, OBI-WAN OBAMA. This coincides with the new Starwars animation movie, The Clone Wars and with the Democratic Convention. Both of these events are happening in August so we hope our timing is perfect. We would love to have you check out our CafePress shop and specifically our Obama shirts. We are looking for affiliates. Thanks much. Jan Harrison.

Deb, it pulls from the CafePress product feed after the first two front page selections. That changes over time and I don't have any control over it, so don't think I didn't like it or anything. Smiler

I'll make it somewhat easy on you. Smiler

If you're a shopkeeper, it's nothing you really need to worry about. If you're interested, keep reading. Wink

Affiliates can promote your product through lots of channels.

Linking to your products.
-They can link right to your product or section in your shop.
-They can link right to your product or design in the marketplace.
-They can link right to your product or section in the "green version" of your shop. That's a stripped down version of your shop that CP offers to help affiliates and shopkeepers. It doesn't have any of the section descriptions or custom html, so we all have less chance of a "leak". A "leak" is anything that can distract a shopper from purchasing, like flashy buttons or links to other domains, etc.
-They can create or purchase scripts that basically pull the products into their own wrapper where the product basically stays on their site until checkout at CP.

Now, to find the products they want to promote:
-They can search the forums for people posting their designs.
-They can ask for submissions in the affiliate forum if they are looking for something in particular.
-They can search through the marketplace themselves to find things they like.
- They can use third-party tools that use a product feed provided by CafePress to pull shops or designs based on search keywords. Cafepress allows people to access their database of products in order to help sell them.

I think that covers it. We do all of those depending on the affiliate shop. Smiler

For votewithyourshirt.com, I am/will be pulling products to feature on the front page for voting, but I also pull products in with the search terms. We keep them in our wrapper until the checkout.

Does that help? Smiler

OK, it is officially "on"!

Testing is complete and the first official "Vote With Your Shirt" battle is on the boards. I'm putting myself out there first to take on the mother of all obama designs, LekkerJen's famous "Calm Linked Obama" that was featured on "The View". I'm sending out one of my best sellers, "NoBama '08" to see which side of the passion fires people up.

How can you benefit as a political affiliate? You can blog about it and get people to the site with a "call to action" for the competition.

Just add "?pid=(your cj pid)&xid=(your cp account id)&sid=(your tracking sid)" to the end of the main site url or to any individual product or shop page.

A 60-day cookie will be set on our site with your information that will then be passed through to the CafePress cart (and any subsequent sales on CP according to the CP affiliate policy).

So, LekkerJen... it's a throwdown! May all of us win.

Remember, you can vote daily (and be kind to me)!

If you're linking to the site, drop an email to vote@votewithyourshirt.com with the url so I can keep an eye on how these are being used and so I can contact you when I have the analytics tool in place. Let me know which you prefer, Google Analytics or Statcounter.

Hello! Well, I took the time to look through all of tshirts under McCain and I saw quite a few that were pro-Obama. I did not see any of my pro-McCain shirts. How can I make that happen?

You can make the CafePress API more robust. :P These are coming in from the product feed, so they are search-term based. I'll see if it can filter some stuff out, but when you start messing with "mccain NOT obama" you can remove good stuff also.

I'll probably have to build in a filter to filter out specific design numbers from some queries. I've done that on other sites where I found stuff I didn't want to have show but that CP couldn't quite CUP.

Thanks for the head's up.

"mccain NOT obama"
- I don't see that in my tags, but I can imagine that it happens frequently.

Mainly concerned that my designs aren't shown. Can I do something to make that magic happen?

Thank you.

It does. People with an anti-Obama design might tag it "mccain,anti-obama,anti,obama" because of how people might search. It's been said to not do that, but you can't tell people one thing and have the search results bear out something else. I wouldn't search for "anti-obama". I'd search for "anti obama".

That also means someone searching for "obama" might see the anti-obama design and vice versa.
As for getting your designs in, I'll start adding some landing pages with content I've hand-selected based on the current "theme". I'll start asking for those in the "looking for shops" section soon.

Other than that, the search results are in the hands of the CP product search.

Keep in mind you can always promote your stuff on a blog and link directly to your shop, a section or a product on the site by following the syntax in the url. That way you can promote it as "featured on votewithyourshirt.com!" Smiler

Examples:
You can link to your store with
http://www.votewithyourshirt.com/shop.php?action=store&s=rightwingswag
where "s" is the store id

You can link to a store section with
http://www.votewithyourshirt.com/shop.php?action=store&...wingswag&sec=1965923
where the "sec" is the section number

You can link to a product with
http://www.votewithyourshirt.com/shop.php?action=produc...c=1965923&p=80826465
where you change the "action" to product and the "p" is the product number.

Follow any of those with your affiliate info "&pid=(your cj pid)&xid=(your cp account id)&sid=(your tracking sid)" and you will get credit for any resulting sales. Note that if you're adding on to a url with the parameters already in, put "&pid...". If you're linking to the front page, use "votewithyourshirt.com/?pid..."

Note that you'll need to mouseover, click or "copy shortcut" on those links to see them since the forum software shortens them.
