Whoa, is it just me or did they just fix something and make it quite nifty? Just a while ago if you typed in "Obama shirt" you'd get no results, but now if you do it it says "We narrowed your results to the T-Shirts & Clothing category"! Wow! Hope it's still working in a few minutes when I try again, lol...

Me too. Very nice implementation of this, instead of just removing the product term!!! Well done, Marty and crew (or just Marty if that's the case) Smiler

Woah.

code to customize your search box from CafePress

Check that out.. I haven't had a chance to install and test it yet, but it looks like a multi-shop search in there!

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay Yay Yay Yay Yay Yay Yay Yay

You know when I started that other BooBoo thread I started to mention this...but figured it was too much to ask for!

Does this mean a move from shop to shop is not too far behind????

Allright Jim...test it and tell us what to do!

Hehe.. I'm on a wireless att card driving on I-40 to Texarkana... I'm skeered to touch anything on my shop for fear I have part of something up and my connection dies. Smiler What I didn't see is a product type dropdown which I really like even with the new filter implementation. Maybe we can get in and hack at that javascript provided and add that in... hmmm Marty?!

Seriously though, this bodes well for all of the stuff we've been asking for I think. Smiler

OMG...would you please stop posting while you are driving...We need you here!!!!!!

I'm excited about this...I was already working on a total integration of shops, and the new search ability threw me for a loop and stopped me dead in my tracks.

Now I have a better plan! I'm a happy woman!

the cross shop search they just added does not work for my shops - becuase shopper has to pick which shop to search for the keyword - and some of my types of designs span 2-3 shops or more....because of the 500 limits!!! so for me the cross shop will only work if the search auto searches ALL the shops....without making the customers try to pick which one....example i have go green in 3 different shops...i have holiday designs in 5 different shops because i cant fit them all in one shop....and my i love names i have 2-3 letters of the alphabet per shop because there are thusands of names and they dont fit all in 1 shop...and this does not include my vote for names and my holiday names...
i hope the new cross shop search helps others...but for me it just going to confuse the shoppers...since the shoppers do not know when they click holidays they are switched to celebratetoday shop...and fromt here depending on the holiday they may be switched to any one of 3 other shops also....i hope they keep working on it so it will just search all the shops without aking the customer guess which shop the designs will be in...

uh-oh Bonk

That's what I feared.

This is where to move form shop to shop feature would help, but I have the same situation as u.

Certain themed designs had to stretch over three shops with the section limits...and that just kills my chances of this working correctly.

Jim, Marty Adam...someone...ideas?????

Awww, bummer. I thought it just might be that, but held out hope. Frowner

Maybe it's a first step... until I can get under the hood on it not much I can contribute. It's possible ---- possible that if there's access to a shop-based search in there, someone could search them all and pull the results into one set to return to the page, but... that would mean multiple calls and performance issues, so... (psssst.. it's Marty you need to kiss up to)

So, hopefully I can look at it soon, but no promises.

Editted - found my answer (about shop limits, and any way around them - create multiple shops, and in my case get them to look identical)

Sorry about that :-)

Has anyone noticed that the search returns designs from hidden sections? I don't like this at all. Is there anyway to not have this happen? It would seem that if it's hidden from the marketplace, it should be hidden from our shop's search as well.

This is happening to me with hidden sections that are inside an unhidden section, inside a hidden section (!) if that makes sense to you, lol.

Even though you see a hierarchy, the system does not. If you want products to be hidden then the section they are in must be hidden. If the section is not hidden, they will show. Putting a section inside a hidden section does not hide it. You must hide the section itself.

If this doesn't answer your situation then I suggest filing a bug report, or better getting on the phone with a support person who can then see the same thing you are seeing when you are seeing it.

I think maybe I wasn't clear in my last post. The sections that hold the products featuring the designs I want hidden, ARE hidden. They are inside a section that is NOT hidden, with other sections that are NOT hidden because I do not want to show on my storefront, but that are still showing in the marketplace. The section that both my hidden and unhidden sections are in is NOT hidden, but it is inside of a section that IS hidden.

So it goes like this:

Hidden section "A"
inside A is visible section "B"
inside B is hidden sections C-F and visible sections G-K

As I understand it, and from what you've just posted, C-F should not be visible in the marketplace or anywhere else (unless directly linked) and G-K should be visible in the marketplace and therefore, the search.

I want to make sure others are aware of this, so they can see if it's happening in their shops too.

I have a question related to CP store searchbox:

My sections are viewed in my shop with 4 across, but the search results are brought in with only 3 across. Is there any way to change this?
