Ah! I'm an idiot, Jim. First time I plugged it into dreamweaver to get the code. Here's a cleaner version if it confused some. Obviously you have to add your CJ PID where the x's are and change the YOURSHOP to "your actual shop name"
But I dint no u kood disable html here. Never sed I wuz the sharpest knife in the drawer. Smiler

I've used the default setting to set it to show in the sidebar and I'm happy with that. I would like to change the default SEARCH text to something like SEARCH NAMES if that is possible?

I just dawned on my how big of an addition a search function in our shops is...I'm very excited about it! Thank you CP!

Starting to run into a problem.

Lots of folks are starting to use the search.

BUT...

They're looking for tools, raincoats, umbrellas...

Someone should make that "search DESIGNS" or we're going P*** off a lot of folks. And the others will leave thinking we have nothing they want.

I've noticed the same thing. Using the search style definitions on this page here:

http://www.cafepress.com/cp/members/toolbox/search_styling.aspx
(have to be logged in to see the page)

I added this to the 'head' area of my shop:

<style>#searchBoxLabel{display:none}</style>

That deletes the 'Search:' that is the default text, and then you can put whatever text you want before the search code. I've used "Search by Design:" or "Search Designs By Keyword:".

I've considered adding a 'Do not include product types in the search' but that seems a bit LONG already?

Anyway - that should help a little bit at least!

I'm lazy, Foxy. Smiler I just put "Use our Search to locate that special design!" above the search box. I left the "search" there. It's bold so there's a difference.

Anything is better than just "search", but I think pretty much no matter what you do there'll still be some who look for shoes or rocket guns. Wink

Time, time.. i just need more time....

I'm pretty sure there's something you could do with javascript to do a function that passes the query term through the function and clean it of most product type names, then submit it to the form. I that on teesed.com but with asp on the server.

But, you'd have to hard-code the search form. Shouldn't be that hard to do.

Should have it ready by March.

Gary Teesed - I used Garys code in my CP shop store.

What do I do to enbed the results in my CP shop and not get it to kick to my cafepress store ?

http://serendipityposters.com/posters.cgi

My script sits here : http://serendipityposters.com/store.html
If you right click it should show you the coding.

MA, is that all of them combined?!

Mish, Since the form action goes to CP, I don't think it can stay in your CP shop. I could be wrong.

A quick and dirty workaround to change the text that appears next to the search box.

To make the word 'search' disappear, use
 span#searchBoxLabel {display:none;}

Use absolute positioning to position the input box top right of the page, say e.g.
 div#cpSearchFormContainer {position:absolute; top:-204px;right:0px;} /*Search box*/

Create another div, put some text in it and use absolute positioning to put this text next to your search box.

Yeah, Mish. The form is actually running on CP so if it's possible it's a job for 'Mighty Marty!!!' Smiler

Never used CP shop (it is an awesome prog) but in this case, it "seems" it would have to be a feature incorporated into CP shop independent of CP for various reasons. But I could be wrong too!
