Hi

I am a beginner and still learning how to set everything up.

Can someone please help explain some of the search features of the search box on your own website?

1) If I type some of my keywords in search, sometimes I end up with images of the same product and I don't know if this is because it pulls from subsections or if it has to do with tagged images or something else?

2) Sometimes when I type keywords in my search box, images show up and below them it says "untitled" and I don't know if I missed a title in a section or a title in a image tag/keyword. I think I checked the image keywords so I am not sure why it says untitled.

My site is here:
http://www.cafepress.com/TracyTrends

and the keywords I typed where I saw these issues are the two words: machu picchu (not in quotes)

Thanks for the assistance,
Tracy

1) no clue on this one, but i do see what you mean, multiple copies of your one calendar show up in the search results and they all have the same product number.

2) its "Untitled" because the products themselves haven't been named.

If you provide a link to an example of the search results it would help us to figure it out.

Hi

Here is a link with the search results:

http://www.cafepress.com/tracytrends/s_machu-picchu

I am going to try and polish it a little thismorning. After sleeping on it, I was thinking maybe it pulls 12 images of the same calendar because each calendar monthly image was also tagged with the words machu picchu, thus making 12 results.

If this is the case, maybe I need to upload separate image files for the calendars and only tag the cover image with keywords.

Example:
Calendar A has images 1 through 12 but only tag the cover.

Notecard B uses the same image as calendar month 1 but I would still need to upload the same image again if I wish to tag the image.

(It seems like this would be a waste of storage space for the cafepress server but I suspect this is what is needed to avoid duplicate results in search)

I'm working on search on my own site, but if I remember correctly when I first tried marketplace, my sunflower calendar showed up 12 times since each month was tagged with the word sunflower. (So this may apply to marketplace too.)

Thanks for advice, clarification, and ideas on this topic,
Tracy

Me again : )

Ok... so actually this morning, I am down to only 2 duplicates so maybe it is a matter of the "system" catching up and organizing everything. (Let your site sit 24-48 hours)

I have made no tag changes so if you have this problem, don't go uploading extra images (as I mentioned above).

Hopefully it will take care of itself (just a matter of time)

Thanks again for the tips and helping solve the other "untitled" issue,
Tracy

Yeah - same thing happens with calendars in my shops. Kinda confusing, as is the sub category "Gifts & Presents" showing up twice, with one instance coded wrong. I will be filling out a bug report for that (the double category), I'd suggest you do the same. I don't believe the double products are a bug, just a symptom of the search and having 12 or 13 images on one product. Honestly, I wouldn't upload 2 separate images unless they are different aspect ratios. The more designs you have, the more images... it can get very confusing later on, believe me Smiler
