GollyGeeSwell, You are only thiking of the money you are not making. Take into account the money that CP is paying out. To have this kind of business takes alot of money, organization and creativity to keep up with the competition. They have to pay for their employees, equipment, etc. Take your 1.5 million and see how far it gets you after buying the equipment and paying for all the expenses fo hiring employees.

The rest of us are going to work smarter.

Everyone else, I just put up a new top list site. It is very very new. If anyone would like to trade links with me, please post your shop on my top sites list and add me to your links list. You can go here: http://www.eutstars.com

Thanks.

Thank you very much for putting all of this into plain English - although small amounts of my items are selling, and I understand that the market will slump occassionally, this makes sense on the items that are not selling.

Thanks again

Great information! The hardest thing is the time commitment! I also found that having your own domain, and fowarding it to the cafepress store as really useful. (yahoo has a domain sale for $1.95 a year).
I've been working on my website, need some suggestions.

Thank you so much for the information! Really useful! I hope to integrate some of it into my own newly opened business.

Gross sales does not equal profit. Cafe Press beats ebay on smaller items when it comes to producing profit.

Where else can you design an item, put it online correctly, do a wee bit of marketing and sit back and collect a check?

With ebay you've got endless hassles taking photos, pricing decisions, dealing with ridiculous comments and customer hassles, packaging, going to the post office, paying for the post office, shipping it out, playing the feedback game - ugh...

Cafe Press is much better. Even on designs - have you walked into a t-shirt store lately? Are their designs really BETTER than the ones we have here? Forget it. The designs in the store don't match up to the artwork here.

This is exactly the same pitfall I fell right into. I make badges and to sell them on ebay, the only way to make a profit was to sell in bulk. Which was a time consuming process, therefore never really got the money back.

What are other quality sites to track visitors? Statcounter.com was discussed earlier in this topic (a lot earlier!) and it is free, to an extent. You can only track the first 100 visitors before you have to upgrade. Any other sites that have worked for people??
Thanks

thanks on my part for a great and helpful post... am definately now rename and redescribe all my items in all my stores...

me, personally, am all for niches... I just go for niches I like and make stuff I would wear.. or, if I were of this or that niche, i would wear...

but yeah, text t-shirts are so much easier to do and sell so much better sometimes... I'm trying to find a balance between that and my own artwork....

thanks again

Statcounter free version displays the most recent 100, not the first 100...I've been using the free version for over a year now.
