Being new and browsing the boards I recall someone mentioning pages "not being seen" by Google but I don't know if they meant sections, items or both.

Can someone please give examples of different types of pages indexed by Google? If you site is found in a google search, can you show us by telling us what you type in google and then we would see your page on the results list?

I am assuming our sites: as in www.cafepress/sitename would be listed in Google searches once optimized.

But, how deep will google go?

Is www.cafepress/sitename/number (a section or subsection) picked up by googgle?

Is www.cafepress/sitename.number (an item page) picked up by googgle?

Since google likes content and we are only allowed a short description for our item, it seems very difficult to build content on our item pages. So, I assume all the "keyword" posts are referring to their home pages?

And, would I be correct in assuming the item pages will NOT be indexed by google and it is near to impossible to optimize the content on item pages? And that being true, then even linking to item pages from outside sources would be a waste and we should only build links to our home page or perhaps sections?

You can see exactly what pages google has indexed by using the site: operator.

Just go to google search and enter:
site:www.cafepress.com/shop
(same thing works for yahoo search to see what yahoo has indexed)

Yes I do see individual item pages indexed.
Remember that besides on-page seo such as content there is also off-site seo such as inbound links. To get more pages indexed build more off site links to inner pages.
Also, getting indexed is just the first step, good rankings take some extra work.
