I've been trying for over a week now. My eyes feel like their bleeding. Can anyone help with transparencies? I'm using Coreldraw 12 with Corel Photopaint. I get the image in photopaint which appears to have a transparent background but, then I loose it when I try to export it. Please help, my eyes cant take much more pain.
I don't use Corel stuff really, although I have it, anyway, but for what it's worth, only GIF and PNG formats support transparency, and then only if transparency is selected. Make sure you're not exporting as a JPG.

The way that the CP instructions have you do it is to export the file as something like *.psd (photoshop) then bring it into something like GIMP to finish the transparency process.
One thing to note. If you are not specific as to what steps you are doing it is very likely you will get told to do the steps you are doing - because we have no idea if you are doing the correct steps and have a problem or don't know the correct steps to begin with.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try out what is suggested by those links. I know it's probably something silly, right in front of me. I'll let you know how I do.
WOW, Thank You! I'm at a loss for words. I've been banging my head against the wall for 2 weeks with Coreldraw 12, trying to get this transparency stuff to work. I think I got it once out of 10000 times with corel. But this Gimp you mentioned, well, within 5 min of playing with it I had it done. I can't believe how easy it worked. Now for one reason or another it didn't work on all my pieces but atleast it worked on most. I'm glad I didn't give up. I'm glad you were out there. Big Thank You!!!! Now it's back to the drawing board to try and start a whole new shop and new ideas.
When I make a transparent background from Corel photo paint, (such as from cut out lab) I do a "save as" to a file I want it in. Then I simple Import it to my Corel Draw from that file. Easy as that. I use Corel 13. I'm sure they're similar. I've also done crop tool, selected what I've wanted then did a "Copy" and "Paste" to Corel Draw. hope that helps. Remember, if its a fresh Design, always do a "Save As" as well as an Export. Once you Export it, it will all become a Bitmap and can't be changed after that. A "Save as" can be changed later. That works for me too. I'm not sure why PhotoPaint claims to do it and doesn't, but every software has its bugs. Draw will work. You can copy/paste, or save it as file type that won't compress. You might need to use color mask if it has a white background and you continue working.
Text works better from Draw anyway -- it's a good habit to adjust to.
