Does anyone here use PSP 7 and have a good knowledge of the program, possible problems etc...?
I use PSP 7 and have come across a problem. I was working on new greeting cards today then closed the program to do something else. When I tried to reopen I keep getting a temp file of the last card I made and it won`t close without the program closing too. No matter what I try it won`t go away and every time I close the program then reopen it still happens. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling PSP, I tried disk cleanup to remove unwanted files (I`m using Vista so can`t access temp files like I used to in ME) I tried searching for the temp file by it`s filn name, to delete it... but it can`t be found!, I have so many new designs to work on and am falling way behind my personal goals and schedule, this is the last thing I need!.

I`m not sure if it`s a PSP problem or Windows Vista itself, since I uninstalled PSP and reinstalled and it still happens, but I can`t find a way to search through Vista...
I can`t uninstall Vista and reinstall since my computer came with it already installed and I have way too much work on the disk ready to use and upload...

Any ideas?

I use PSP8 but have never had that happen. I also have Windows Vista and the program frequently hangs up and stops responding while I am working on things. This causes me to often lose my work if I didn't just save it. This never happened with XP. Not saying your problem is Vista though.

This is strictly a guess on my part, but I'm wondering if PSP7 is compatible with Vista? Maybe that version is too old and you would need a newer version of PSP?

Did you apply the patches? Fully patched, I believe the version should be 7.04.

That still might not make it work with Vista, of course, but who knows?

Thanks for the replies, sorry for the delay but I couldn`t get into CP last night because of the maintainance, and I haven`t been back online until now
I did manage to temporarily sort the problem, I ran a disk error scan and PSP worked for a while afterwards last night, but the same problem is back today and I`m pretty sure it`s Vista and not PSP causing it. I hate Vista as I can`t find my way around it to delete cookies etc as in ME!. When I start up PSP a temporary file pops up and an error notice that it caused an abnormal program termination... the only thing clickable is the red X on that warning, which closes PSP, I can`t close the temp file or anything else and can`t find it on the computer to delete it!.
I can`t imagine PSP 7 being incompatible with Vista though as I have used it without any problems on this computer since I got it last Christmas, I have edited literally thousands of photo`s and likewise made many hundreds of cards & designs for my various shops with no problems at all. I really hate Vista and although I have PSP 8 and am forced to use it right now, I can`t stand that either, I am much happier using 7!
I wish I had the disk to reinstall Vista as I`m sure it`s something to do with the OS rather than the PSP... but the computer already had it installed when I got it and there isn`t a disk with it. I tried installing updates, defragging the disk, running scans etc but it`s still happening... I uninstalled and reinstalled PSP several times and it still happens, another reason I feel it`s Vista!.
Oh well, thanks for your replies anyway, I appreciate it... if I do manage to sort it out I will post an update!

I'm so not an expert on any of this, but I did want to say I have a friend who tried to use PSP7 and PSP8 with Vista and was not able to get them running properly. He upgraded to the new PSP12 and that works perfectly for him. I've used the trial run of PSP12 and think it's a very good program.
I have both 7 and 8 myself right now and find that it is MUCH easier to make transparent images in 8 than in 7. The more you use 8 the more you'll start to like it, at least I did. I run XP by the way, not Vista. I really don't want to have to ever upgrade to Vista because I think there are a LOT of older programs that seem to have glitches when used with Vista. Just my two cents. Good luck to you!
