Have an Png file that is 16 Meg's by the image info in Paint Shop Pro 8 which is to large for here it will never uplaod without a time out error. what is the way of reducing this down to the 3 meg upload limit? tried saving using a differnt program and it only made it larger or unuseable.
I haven't tried it in 8 (don't have it) but in 7 I recently reduced one photo by about 20% by doing an aggressive "texture preserving smooth" and running the saved PNG file through PNGCrush in brute force mode. (Took a while.) The smooth made no difference visible without zooming in on pixels, and the crush is a lossless operation.
Alternately, you could try uploading it from a friend's house. I've uploaded larger files with no problem. I only did the one because I was up against a storage limit on another site.
Have you tried jpg - at maximum? Usually jpg saved at maximum will work just fine if it is of adequate resolution to being with. It will lose quality if it is opened then saved a couple times but should be ok if saved from the original.
