I don't know much about CPShop but I do know I emailed them early yesterday asking a few questions before I buy and I still haven't gottin an answer.

I bought CPShop a few weeks ago and Im still working out the bugs. I installed it to my .com and I got the initial page to work but I havent touched anything else yet. It seems pretty simple from what I've gathered thus far. Just go find a free Perl tutorial on the internet if your not savvy and then you can at least navigate the code easier. After that, just plug and chug and see what happens

Very stable! Marty will fix any problems related to cp code changes usually the same day. It can handle my 2k+ visitors a day no prob.
As far as support goes, it is very reliant on the user forum. Comb it over well.. its a tricky script and takes some time to get used to, but it does the job and does it well. The one problem that seems to come up often is with hosts. They don't like the massive files the script generates. I recommend PhatServers who have awesome customer service. Support emails back within minutes most of the time. Bluehost is recommended by Marty, but a few people have had problems and I've had problems with Dreamhost. It all depends on how much traffic you get. |

Any recommendations on someone that customizes and sets up this script? I see Peon seems to do it quote a bit.

I emailed with a question after the sale and haven't got an answer either.

I used Peon to set up my shop with CPshop and can recommend them with no hesitation. Money well spent in my opinion. Dave |

Is there anyone else who writes custom scripts, that do like what Marty's script does? The store is so important to me, I'd rather pay up than get a bargain and have to work problems out on my own.

Could you explain what the "massive files" are? I think I read on Marty's forum someone said he had 50,000 files. I don't understand what the need would be for so many files. |

Basicly there is a caching feature with cpshop that helped eliminate other server problems (connecting to cp too much) but some servers can't deal with the 1000's of small files it generates. You can however set the caching size to whatever you want (ie: 20MB), but as all of our stores got larger we started setting it to use unlimited space which ends up taking up a few gigs for me. I've had limited problems, and the time my host put up a stink they simply moved me to an awesome quad core 8gb ram server! |

I'm on my own dedicated server, at LiquidWeb with incredible support. That should be okay I'd think.
May I ask about security? I did some reading about Perl which says to stay away from perl scripts for security reasons. Anything to thia? |
