Hai everyone,

For those who put in muslim design for t-shirts or accesorries, please Do NOT Use Word ALLAH/MUHAMAD either in arabic or normal alphabetic words. Because it is not like a brands like Nike/Adidas that you can print it on and wear it. Please have some respect to others.Hopefully to have co operation on this issue. thank you

Using Allah is up to the designer. If they are of the Muslim faith, they should not put it in print or wear it, if they are not of the muslim faith, it's their choice.

buildersent: Exactly.. as long as it's adhering with the guidelines set forth by cafepress, we're actually encouraged to express ourselves through creativity. What's offensive to someone may not be to another. Not to sound rude, but one individual, although they do have the right to post their opinion; what anyone else wants to express through their own creativity is their own prerogative.

THanks skyn I really appreciate that someone is actually aware of that. I may self am Muslim and I make a lot of 'Muslim' designs. However I never use anything that you mentioned above.

What frustrates me more is that most of the people that make those sorts of designs are Muslim.

Skyn is only saying these things out of respect. He is not the law and is not making it illegal.

The reasoning behind it is you shouldn't have the name or word of god or his/her prophet's names written anywhere on your body or clothing because people go to a lot of unsanitary places such as the bathroom with these specific garments on. Its disrespectful in the faith. If someone chooses to be disrespectful yes that is there own business.

But once again , Skyn, thanks for not being ignorant.

I think the important bits are in the wording and this message is unlike previous ones that made "demands" of people - which is something that doesn't fly in too many places.

I agree the post was made with genuine consideration. "Please do not use" and "respect to others" are words of encouragement and suggestion and expressed politely. Showing respect is often one's own business and frequently in the eye of the beholder - it's also not a bad suggestion for just about any part of daily life.

Cafepress welcomes both diversity as well as receiving concerns about designs. If you feel something violates CP policy please contact CUP@Cafepress.com

Members here are welcome to do exactly what we're reading: Express both sides of this. Please be mindful, too, that Cafepress' policies reflect that diversity and expression to a global userbase.

Are you creating the strongest designs you can?

Thank you for your explanation on this ... I was not aware of the reasoning at all.

I had to chuckle, too...reminded me of the lady at work who claims I am a 'blasphemer' cuz of my Jesus designs- I like to think Jesus has a sense of humor- but the funny thing is, she called me this when she was wearing one of those Burger King logo shirts that says 'Lord King' (or whatever) at the time Shame
Oh yeah, and she tells people I'm a Satanist cuz my biz card is a Quija board (found at that 'other place', it's so kewl!) lol

Religious concepts [like any concepts, but generally to a more extreme degree] are capable of offending anyone. A shirt, in this example, attempting to exalt Al'lah in some more appropriate way sounds great to allahworshippers, but offends at minimum the sensibilities of those makebelieving instead that Odin and/or Quetzalcoatl created the universe—a premise which in turn offends those blaming Al'lah, the YodHehVavHeh, and/or Y'shua bin Yosef for existence, any and all of which might manage to offend those who don't blame the universe on imaginary friends.

So, I get that this is a request, but it's probably denied. Even people with the best of intentions, who'd assume they're harmlessly advertising Al'lah or any competing deities, are going to offend someone in some way. I wonder a little about a kid I saw a couple decades ago wearing a shirt with a spoof of what was at the time the PepsiCola logo, where PepsiCola had been replaced by Jesus Christ, all above the tag The Choice of the Last Generation. That kid having been a member of GenerationX, I'm thinking false witness may have exceeded the crime of diluting PepsiCo's trademark, supposing said deity existed.

On the other hand, the LastGeneration shirt made me smirk. So offence is relative.

My own "Religious Satire" section is a blend of designs meant to offend everyone in general and no one in particular. Mixed in with all that aresome of what I believe to be universal truths. It is my intent to make people THINK about what they believe and why they believe it. God has a sense of humor -- too bad too many of God's worshipers don't.

I figure if anyone is offended, they need offending.
