If you want to put the © with your name & date, do so. Just do it small (6 pt or so) and try to put it in an unobtrusive area on the side or bottom. Go into Target or H&M or the local t-shirt emporium and see where the "big boys" put their ©s on their graphics, because you KNOW it'll be there! They call us "geeks". They call us "nerds". We call ourselves "pop culture aficionados!" http://www.atocom.blogspot.com http://cafepress.com/atocom |

it's a very good idea. Idiots steal my designs all the time and when caught their answer is...."well it doesn't say copyright on there"

Using the copyright symbol may discourage idiots but it offers no legal protection.
If you registered copyright ownership to the image, you can initiate a lawsuit. If not, then you can't. http://www.copyright.gov/help/...eneral.html#register Do I have to register with your office to be protected? No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section “Copyright Registration.” |

Hi!
Thanks for the replies, they were very helpful! I think I will keep putting the copyright symbol on but try and keep it small and unobtrusive, as suggested. I am now checking out T-shirts and stuff when I go shopping to see what others do! Thanks again! |
