Yeah... Now that I know this is an issue I'll definitely take it into account when I'm designing. Looking thru my shop I only see one design that actually has a light colored fade or glow. And, it is not "mission critical" that it be a fade rather than a line. I might tweak it, anyway.

I don't typically order samples because we have hundreds of (probably more than a thousand) unique designs - most of which I probably wouldn't wear, myself. Not that they are *bad*. They were just designed with a different audience than *me* in mind. I'd spend all the money we make just on proofs!

We're pretty much all in the same boat, Ohio.

But unless you grab one now and then we have no idea if what we're designing/selling is going to bring in return customers or just turn them off. Samples are a write off and if nothing else... advertising (provided you have your web address on them). Wink

Given to friends or neighbors... creates a good feeling and spreads your name around.

That's what I do......I try to order AT LEAST one or two a month, and I base my choices on designs that I question how they will print or need to see color of or whatever....

THEN, I either use them for the free advertising by donating them to different fund raisers, or I put them aside for a gift item that I'll need through out the year. Works out great. Then again, it is really important to me to know what my stuff looks like that my name is attached to.

Like this? Bad Squishy Dark T-Shirt or That's Just... Women's V-Neck Dark T-shirt. These are two designs where I use a dot-style pseudo-gradient.

I got the idea from Big Dot Effects

Have you seen the results on a shirt ordered through CafePress? Just curious.

Yeah, that is a great way around the "fade" thing and I'd think it should print perfectly as long as the dots aren't too fine.

Hi Diane,
I haven't seen it printed. 'Bad Squishy' was for a friend but he bought it on a light shirt instead of the black.

Any chance you've seen how it turned out on a dark shirt yet? It would be great if you'd post when you have! Smiler

How fine is too fine?
In the worst case, would the too-small areas just not be printed, or would they end up larger than intended (e.g., if they're bumped up to some minimum size)?

I've ordered That's Just Weird on a black t-shirt from my shop. I'll post photos when I get it.
