Install them? You can't install them but you can open them.
I'd suggest reading the manuals for the applications. These are both professional level programs that are complex. The Right Mind - annoying Liberals since 2006 - www.cafepress.com/therightmind - www.cafepress.com/stopobama08 |

Agreed. You really do need to have a working knowledge of both programs. Read the manuals that come with them and they will answer almost all the questions you have posted here. Both of these programs are VERY complex and do a lot more than just make simple designs. Get to know both of them before you get anymore involved in designing, and you'll be a lot less frustrated. |

CS4 doesn't come with manuals. Seems even that is a thing of the past.
But to open an ai file in PS just drag it from bridge to PS. As far as eps files... not sure as I never really played with them. Now svg files you would need illustrator to open them. Then convert to something photoshop can open. And yes, these progs do have a very steep learning curve! Once you get the hang of them, nothing compares. But learning them from scratch can be torture. itsmeuluckydevils - wudooeyeno? - donot hunter extraordinaire! - IITYWYBMAD? |

Seriously?? Wow! I haven't upgraded to CS4 yet. Hope to in the next 6 months, but haven't had the $$$. I have however played with it on a friends computer. Not that hard to go from 7 to it, it just has some really nice upgrades and features. |

I actually had CS4 web premium but sent it back unopened. Of course the manuals were kind of useless anyway. Even to a novice, but still for the cost of the prog you would think they'd include something to get you started.
But the more I read about it the more I figured it was a waste of money. So I downloaded the trial and found... yep. A real waste. They even removed some features. You can still download them but they don't come with it anymore. So... more or less a navigation update and that's about it. No real "killer" features at all. Not to mention navigating thru it was a real PITA. (And I don't know if you noticed but you can only upgrade from CS3. No more going back a few versions) Now CS3 was an amazing upgrade but buggy as all get out. Still, the features (especially in PS extended) do boggle the mind. But if you do decide to upgrade... I'd go with CS3 or wait for CS5. itsmeuluckydevils - wudooeyeno? - donot hunter extraordinaire! - IITYWYBMAD? |

Oh, forgot to mention... all the bugs in CS3 remain in CS4. Not one was fixed.

The upgrade package lacks manuals but the full price package includes manuals. The Right Mind - annoying Liberals since 2006 - www.cafepress.com/therightmind - www.cafepress.com/stopobama08 |
