Dear friends:
I've looked all over the site for an answer to this question and I don't find it.
I've tried to upload an image for dark apparel, making the background transparent. I've followed the example with the upload for Corel, but I don't have the Photoshop program that goes on with the explanation. I've tried to make it thru Corel Photo-Paint but the instructions are very different and I haven't been able to upload my image without the white background. Would you please let me know how to work with the Corel Graphic Suite, so I can succesfully upload my image? I would be very grateful.
Thank you very much in advanced.
Yours truly:
ULISES TROYO

just save the image in Corel as a PSD document with the transparent background, then open the same image on Photoshop and save it as a PNG...and there you go, ready for dark apparel

You actually can save from CorelDraw directly to a PNG file. Just SELECT the graphic objects, then choose FILE, EXPORT. Make sure that the box for "Selected Only" is checked. (If you don't see that box you either have to click on "options" to show it, or else you haven't actually selected anything from within the drawing.

Once you choose PNG and have "Selected Only" checked, click EXPORT button. From next screen you'll want to make sure it says RGB, 200 dpi, and Transparent Background must be checked. Click OK.

On next screen you MUST have the radio button for "Masked Area" selected. I know, you haven't really masked anything, but by the mere fact that you've selected objects in your drawing they become, in effect, masked.

Once you've selected "Masked Area" just click OK and you're done. This is a perfectly usable PNG file for CafePress.

One note - if you open this file in Corel PhotoPaint you're going to think it didn't work at all, as you won't see a transparent background. This is a flaw in PhotoPaint (IMO). There's actually a mask there, which you can view if you color it. To test that everything worked you can just open the file, press Ctrl C to copy, then do a "new from clipboard." See? Perfect image, with transparent background.

Oh, and you could also just upload the PNG to CafePress and view it against a dark background, and you'll see it works.

I should probably send this info to CafePress, as what they have on their site is inaccurate.
