Go to podcasts, search for photoshop.

The masters... pixelperfect (Bert Monroy - guru extroardinaire)

Dr. Brown (Completely insane genius) who is actually an art or something director from Adobe. But you won't believe it when you see him. He's nuts.

Rich Harrington is good.

Matt Koslowski's instant tips are great too.

All these (and tons more) are video podcasts and are Photoshop and Illustrator lessons.

These are ALL FREE. All kewl. All entertaining. But I can guarantee you that you won't get much done. You'll be fascinated by these guys.

wow, awesome, thanks

FWIW, there aren't just one or two. These are a series. There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of tutes and some authors add new ones daily, some weekly. I subscribe to them and watch at least one or two new ones every day. Some are a minute or two, some are 10 or 15 minutes long.

And don't forget photoshop tv! They usually run from a half hour or so to 45 minutes +.

(and yes, you can jump past the intro and commercials in all of them)

Here's what i'd love to see....photoshop for t shirt designing. Show me how to manipulate text, bring graphics into the picture, join the 2, etc.

I hear ya about itunes, Burn. That's why it's the program I love to hate. Smiler I think you have to go to the list of podcasts and subscribe to them first. When you click on subscribe it does seem like nothing happens. Then you have to go back somewhere else and they'll be there. Then you have to get them.

But it's a goldmine of tips and tricks. But they are all tips and tricks. You'd learn photoshop but it's not essentially a learn from the ground up approach. Opening photoshop for the first time can be really intimidating.

Here's a new user place. They are not all free, but the first dozen or so on the cd are free as samples.

I'd say run thru the free samples and then fight itunes for the tips! Smiler Or failing that, search for those guru's names on the web. They all have websites and their podcasts can be gotten there as well. Dr. Brown will probably pique your interest if you go back far enough into his older episodes.

Manipulating text, bring graphics into the picture... that's exactly what these folks do!

I just came across Photoshop Lady and it looks pretty helpful - I've bookmarked it. Love the site look.

Check out the Grass Text Effect - good for some eco-designs.

And for the not-faint-of-heart, the Age Progression tutorial. :P

FWIW, Adobe media player can get you a lot of adobe tutes.

Like Itunes, you can search for adobe and download a bunch of PS, ILL, etc. videos.

Great thread idea.

I have tons of photoshop sites bookmarked, but by far, without any doubt, one is the MOST useful.

Get into their forums. I promise, anything your ever stuck on someone can help. (Or point you to several specific tuturials.

Also... I teach photoshop at my local college. (when I'm lucky enough for the class to fill.)

I'd be delighted to tutor anyone having problems learning. Tough program to teach yourself.
Just go to my site and find my contact.

be sure to put you found me here in the subject so I know it's not junk.
