I found some great brushes at Obsidian Dawn. The creator of the brushes says they are all copyright free, but I've been somewhat hesitant to use them because some of the brushes seem to have been created from photos of objects. Any advice on whether these are safe to use? If so there are some great tools here (although the images are fairly small at higher resolution).

An excellent selection of brushes there.
Thanks!

Just a few hours ago I happened upon this site:
It has a number of good and easy-to-follow tutorials.

I went ahead and stickied this before it dropped down. We might even see if we can consolidate them into a nice list at the top of this thread at some point.

I posted a link to a tutorial on doing circular text in the second post, but I just came across another technique using paths for Adobe Photoshop that looks great. Great for button text and can be used for other curves and such.

I am a total newbie to CafePress. I am interested in making certain bumperstickers, and I happen to have Adobe Photoshop. However, I have never used it and have no other experience working with graphic software. Is there any sort of tutorial for the person who has no experience with either CafePress or Photoshop on making your first bumpersticker? I am also interested in making tote bags. Both of these will consist mostly of text.

When I took my first real time class in Photoshop and graphic layout, the instructor gave each of us a sheet of paper with a toot on it. He told us to complete the assignment and then left the room.

Confused

Taking it step by step, each of pecked our way through. Of course we didn't know a vector from a rasterized image. It took us two sessions but we finally duplicated the lable for the wine bottle. You just have to jump in. I'm serious.

If you want a really great start, go to http://www.myjanee.com and pick a toot. While you are there check out her very affordable classes. Janee also has a store at cafepress but is not a regular shopkeeper like ourselves. You can also email her.

There are shopkeepers here who have toots on cafepress and you have come to the right place for answers.

I gotta give my love for Lynda.com. They have a wide range of digital imaging tutorials. If you want to get a real good grasp of practically any program, I highly recommend it. Now, it is a paid service. For about 30 bucks you get access to every training movie on the site. For a couple hundred, you get access to the movies for a year, as well as all the training files so you can follow along.

hello i am fairly new with the entire photoshop and illustrator softwares: but i thought you could lassoo something in illustrator and then drag it into photoshop to work on, however only part of the image i selected is transfered and i don't know why. It isn't the canvas, i've already made that bigger. Any suggestions? thank you

I have a Mac and just found out that I have Adobe Bridge. I have no clue how to use or even open the application. Anybody have a link to a tutorial that would get me started with Bridge? Thanks. By the way I found a hilarious Photoshop tutorial over at My Damn Channel. It's called You Suck at Photoshop. I've actually picked up a couple of pointers from it, including my newfound awareness of the existence of Bridge and some things it will do. Will go there and bring you back a link.

If you really want to get blown away and learn how to do it (free) you'll need itunes (it's free). (A program I love to hate)

Go to podcasts, search for photoshop.

The masters... pixelperfect (Bert Monroy - guru extroardinaire)

Dr. Brown (Completely insane genius) who is actually an art or something director from Adobe. But you won't believe it when you see him. He's nuts.

Rich Harrington is good.

Matt Koslowski's instant tips are great too.

All these (and tons more) are video podcasts and are Photoshop and Illustrator lessons.

These are ALL FREE. All kewl. All entertaining. But I can guarantee you that you won't get much done. You'll be fascinated by these guys.
