FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Corel Photo-Paint

To remove an existing background from a graphic in PhotoPaint:

1.) Open the graphic.

2.) In the "Objects" docker, there should only be one thumbnail, and it should be labeled "background". Right-click on it.

3.) From the menu, select "Create from Background". Now, the graphic is a floating object, ready to have any excess hacked off!

4.) You can use the magic wand to get large areas, or the eraser to clean up details, or use the lasso or other selection tools to create a specific shape.

Whichever method you use, make sure anti-aliasing is turned OFF.



Corel Draw

To export a drawing from CorelDraw as PNG with Transparency:

1.) Go to the "File" menu and select "Export".
2.) For "Save File of Type" pick PNG, and give it the filename of your choice.
3.) Click "Export".
4.) In the "Convert to Bitmap" dialog box, make sure the Image Size units is Pixels.
5.) Make both the "Width" and "Height" over 2000 pixels, or even better over 4000 pixels.
6.) "Color Mode" must be RGB Color (24 Bit).
7.) Maintain aspect ratio, Transparent Background should be checked. Anti-aliasing, Apply ICC profile and Maintain original size should not be checked.
8.) Click "OK".
9.) In the PNG Export dialog box, check "Masked Area", then click "OK".
