Thank you for responding so quickly. I do understand in theory and process why shirt color impacts a design, but the white in my design flat out disappears on gray. You'd think white could be seen on gray and that a designer would rather see a slightly faded white on gray than not to have it at all. Gray T-shirts are a must. Thanks!

On light-colored substrates, no white ink is printed. Therefore all "white" areas in your design will become transparent and show the substrate color. White is only printed on dark substrates, and actually not even all of them.

CafePress doesn't print white ink on the shirts called "Light" so the grey choice in the Light shirts won't show white ink at all. Your "texture" will show up as light grey perhaps but there is no white ink to blend with it so it'd just visually disappear as tiny grey dots on a grey shirt.
There is a darker grey shirt that gets white ink printed on it, it's the Women's V-Neck Dark T-shirt. No option for men though. Might be worth posting a suggestion in the Suggestion forums: http://forums.cafepress.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/844104 I'd like to see white ink options on other shirts too (though it'd cost more base price). |

One way to get an approximation of what your designs look like on the pink or gray shirts is to print it with your printer on colored paper. Again, it's only an approximation, but it will give you an idea of what will show and what won't.

"On light apparel there is no white ink and white in the design simply shows the fabric color."
