Has anyone set up Google Analytics goal conversion tracking for their affiliate site? I specifically want to track when someone clicks on a cj link.

All the goal conversion literature I could find describes goal tracking via a thank you or order confirmation page, but that doesn't work for me because the links go straight to cj.

I did find this help topic describing how to track outbound links, but it doesn't explain how to use outbound links as goals.

Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

Oops. I answered my own question 5 minutes later.

There's another help topic for making outbound links into goals here

On the bright side, I think formulating the original post helped me clarify exactly what to look for.

I dont know if this is the same ordeal or not and if it is, Im not exactly understanding those two links too well in respect to the google analytics page view report. The link I wanna track is (my store id)?CMP=CJ-CLICK-10463747. Doing a search it seems this is the general id for clicking through from an affiliate from a seperate URL(or am I wrong?). Im assuming someone is affiliating my stuff but I would love to see who and which items.

Not sure what to look for so my searches showed little results.

The CJ URL will not lead you to a place where you can see who is linking and to what. Two things to know. First is that for a great many affiliates they do not pick specific stores or specific items to affiliate with. Many create links that do "dynamic searches" and the results are constantly changing depending on the marketplace. Some do hand pick designs, but again they don't link to a shop, and often aren't aware that there are individual shops. Often links are to portals and such. So the bottom line is more often than not the affiliate won't know anything about your shop or your items.

The second thing to know is that many affiliates do not want others to see their shops and their sales strategy. If you want to make yourself available for affiliates who may wish to contact you that is a good idea. Just use a contact form and post a link to it to protect yourself from spam.
