I can do a lot of things, and have self taught myself everything I know about computers, the internet, web design, etc., but I can't for the life of me figure out this whole affiliate stuff. It's like my brain turns to sawdust or something. I finally had a grasp on our old affiliate program, and then we switched to CJ. Fair enough, I joined up, and being out of country, I had to fill out a tax form for a non US citizen and fax it off to CJ. Did that, with help from Sonia to figure out that form and what I had to do to fill it out. Then I took it to work to fax it away, and after 2 weeks straight of trying to send the fax, only to get a busy signal every single time, I gave up on it. I was going to snail mail it instead, but my procrastinating self kept forgetting to put in in an envelope, stamp it and send it on it's merry way. At some point when I decided it was long overdue that I clean out my purse, I found crumpled and face makeup stained tax form, and just tossed it out, figuring I'd print out another copy and try again. Well, life got in the way again, hence the form was never sent.

Long story cut short here, after this years holiday season, I've decided that I'd like to earn more money in 2008. Yes, I'll be working on many new designs for my own shop, but I seriously want to get this affiliate thing up and operational. My question is... are there any sort of affiliating for dummies (and I do mean dummies!) kind of tutorials out there that I can check into to try and sort this all out and hopefully get my own affiliating shop(s) going?

And a specific CJ question is when I'm logged in to my CJ account, and I look up CP, I see theres this table that has these headings... "3 Month EPC (USD)" and "7 Day EPC (USD)", both with $ amounts of $3.53 and $3.84 respectively. Does this mean that I have to pay some sort of fee to affiliate with any of the products in other shops at CP?

I'm so confused!

EPC is an indicator of how much you can earn with the CafePress Affiliate program if you send targeted traffic to it. It's not a fee, it means earnings per a hundred clicks.

There are a ton of great resources at this stickied thread. I've used them myself quite a bit.

If you don't find an answer there, just ask on the boards.

And is that $3 something the current average? If so, I'm kicking its patootie!
