This morning i had a nice surprise, an affiliate cheque from CJ. I joined up with them when the new affiliate scheme kicked in but it was all so horribly confusing with a badly designed layout and lack of documentation that i didn't really know what to do. So i gave up on it straight away thinking it'd be a waste of my time.
Now i can see without putting in any effort i can make money, however i'm not too sure how i did as i don't link to any other affiliate shops.
So heres my question (finally) im using cpshop on my website, so how do i incorporate affiliate shops into my current store? Simple question, im assuming a long answer.
Its been a while since I've played with cpshop but the way I used to do it is create a filter and then add what products I wanted to that filter. For example on a website for flower designs, I would create a filter called Tulips. Then any tulip designs I wanted on my Tulips page, I would list them in the shops area of filter - just do shopname.productno where you might normally do shopname.
Not sure how it is done now. You might want to post at Marty's cpshop support forums since everyone reading there uses cpshop.
That actually makes a lot of sense, i guess the only problem though is that you could end up with hundreds of shop/0000000 bits of text in that line. But apart from that it seems to make sense and something i may consider experimenting with shortly.
Just a quick follow up q to that though, if i do that then when people click on it and get taken to the other shop, assuming they buy it i should get the commission because cj would pick up the link. I don't have to do anything else do i?
you dont need to do anything else, except --- just make sure you have your affiliate information entered into the cpshop admin correctly and you're good to go.
and a bit more info... and to expand on the answer above... you can anything to cpshop whether it is your shop products or not, so you can create entire sections and additional templates, etc focusing on other's products and stores.. sections etc. filters can be created to link/present entire shops, sections, or individual products, they'll all work. you are not limited to anything EXCEPT if the other shop is not opted into the program.
check these forums for the opt in tool.. i forget the url for it, but you can verify a shop is indeed opted into the program with the hand tool.
if you need a bit more info about using filters, i have a visual tutorial here - it's been around a while, but should still be valid.
happy affiliating

Cheers, i'll be sure to check all that one. One thing i'd really like to do is have a list of say tshirts from other stores and then randomly show say 5 from the list with each refresh. Is that possible (without using cpshop i assume)?
