Hi... before the switch to CJ I was getting a few extra bucks on my Cafepress check that was from affiliate sales of my products. Since the switch I have not received any extra income from affiliate sales and I don't know why. Do I need to sign up somewhere? I've been told that I don't need to unless I'm trying to make income by referring sales which I'm not. But yet I called cafepress help to see what's up and they said "well you have to call CJ to talk with them". If I don't even have to sign up with them, then why do I have to call them for help? I went to their website and was even more confused. Of course they are closed on Sat. so I couldn't call either.
Any ideas?
Thank you

CJ has nothing to do with you receiving affiliate sales as a shopkeeper.. Well it does in the background but nothing that you have to worry about. As a shopkeeper, you don't need to have any direct dealings with CJ.

The reason for a lot of the drop in shopkeepers seeing affiliate sales with the new program is CP fixing the problem with the old program where affiliate cookies were automatically set when shoppers visited a premium shop. This auto-cookie turned a lot of sales that should have been shop sales into affiliate sales. It doesn't do that with the new program.

The only thing that you, as a shopkeeper, need to do is ensure that your shop is opted into the affiliate program. As long as you didn't change it, it should be opted in. You do that in your shop's settings.

Ok.... thank you. So I guess I'm not the only one that saw a drop in affiliate sales. Don't know why the guy at cafepress said I needed to call CJ. I hate it when companies give you the "it's not our problem, you have to call the other guy" routine. Errrgh!

All my shops are opted in, so I don't have to do anything with that.

Thank you

Yeah, I'm not sure why you were told that either.. I've sent a note along to have someone talk to the customer service folks. Sounds like at least one of em needs an affiliate program education... Razzer

And really, your question is kind of a tough one. Nobody can really give a definitive answer. But with the changes between the two programs, what I explained above is a likely case in a lot of the drop for a lot of us. But you should have never been passed off to CJ as a shopkeeper asking questions about affiliate sales stats in your shopkeeper report. CJ has nothing to do with that. Smiler
