Myself, and other SKs, have pages on our stores devoted to walking affiliates through signing up and linking to our stores. With the recent change to Commission Junction, a number of SKs are unsure how to instruct the affiliates through all the steps to make sure they are set up correctly to affiliate.
EDIT: I wrote step-by-step directions (with screen prints) and made them available in a PDF file to be used in my stores. If other SKs are interested, feel free to use the guide and recruiting page template. I only ask that you save a copy of the guide to your own web host if you have one.
Just to let you know, this option is for those shops that have the following type of page in their shop and does not have anything to do with the CP redirects being offered for existing links.
I would LOVE to see directions on how to do this Shannon. I just asked about it in another thread because I have no idea how to set up the new affiliate page but still really would like to have one. I voted YES, and thank you for your time and willingness to help other shopkeepers with this!
Just for clarification, you are talking about step by step instructions for building an affiliate recruiting page, not being an affiliate, correct?
I've thought about the need for something like this myself but with everything else on my plate I haven't been able to put it together. I think it would be a great addition to have something like this. There have been a lot of posts with confusion about how to create recruiting pages for the new program.
Yes pristinephoto - it is for a recruiting page to help them sign up to affiliate your store. It has nothing to do with you being an affiliate and the CJ/CP redirects they were talking about in other threads.
Right now I am emailing Angela back and forth to make sure this isnt something CP is already working on for us. I don't want to go reinventing the wheel.
Yes, it would have been nice for cafepress to have a page setup in the first place that we could put in our shops with the other affiliate program. I always thought it was odd that it was kind of an on your own thing to get it rolling. Thanks
I don't believe it is. I mentioned creating a template page for shopkeepers to use for this to the affiliate team and the response that I got led me to believe there wasn't anything planned like this in the near future for shopkeepers. I'll ping Shelby with this thread link. I'm sure if it is something you are willing to put together, it would help them a ton with everything else they have on their plate. Maybe it would be a "tool" they could market to shopkeepers in Ang's newsletters and such.

As a single shopkeeper looking at the program, I agree sodashirts. But me recruiting one affiliate for my shop is a pea in the ocean of CP's overall goal for the program. I hope eventually they have this ability for us but understand there are priorities and limits to what can be done in a given timeframe.
If they don't do it by the time I finish up with my development projects, I'll create a page template that can be used with Shannon's guide if one hasn't been made already before then.
Thanks for the feedback Shawn. I am going to get started on the instructions tomorrow since it seems from Angela's email that nothing like this is really being planned. They have it covered from all the other angles but not for a recruitment page in the SK's store. It shouldnt take me long since I used to write technical training documents in a prior life.
Please let me know if there is anything you dont understand or something that needs to tweeked. As for our code on our recruitment pages, I have been working with the powers that be at CP and it was agreed that the following link can be added to our code boxes (and it will work!):
Which, if you already have a recruiting page, will take the place of the following in your code box:
http://www.cafepress.com/dakotaden?pid=XXXXXXX
The instructions tell the affiliate to replace the XXXXXXX with their PID and you just have to make sure to replace the URL with your own shop in order for it to work.
I will be updating my recruiting pages this weekend and will let you all know when they are up if you need further details or a visual representation of the changes.
Waiting on your feedback!
~Shannon

Hi Shannon, thanks for developing this!! I'm really totally clueless about CJ even after reading the guide from CP. Not CP's fault but the whole thing is just so confusing. And finally by reading your stepbystep guide I "found" my PID code. So maybe my feedback/question as a 'dumb user' would help
on Step 2 : "If no sites are listed, click Add A New Web Site". Perhaps an example with simple screenshots would help. I am at a loss if this part should be displaying the user's website or your website, and/or other SK's website? Is it for every different store that the user affiliate, he will need to setup a new PID by running this step?
By 'user' i mean the person who has visited your shop and wish to add your banner to his website.
That step is talking to the affiliate.. It has nothing to do with shopkeepers. That is where the affiliate sets up their websites they want to have unique PIDs for, so it would be their website.
