Thanks for answering the question Shawn!

Any other recommendations for changes to the guide?

*blush* To be honest, I haven't had a chance to really look at it past a glance. I've been eyeball deep in development of a CafePress affiliate product import plug-in for WordPress. I just figured from the author that it is a good help document. Wink I promise I'll try to give it a good read this weekend. Smiler

Shannon, you are a godsend. I've been whining about having a step-by-step guide for months. (I guess whining isn't so effective.) Thank you so much! (It looks beautiful too!) Smiler

Took a few minutes to read through it while uploading some test files, looks good Shannon. I think you've pretty much covered the process. Smiler

Dear Shannon,
Thank you for all your time and trouble in preparing this guide!
Gotta a question...the multiple PID numbers are confusing me.
In the Add a New Website part of the instructions, after filling out the required info, you get a NEW PID.

Is this NEW PID the one to copy and paste into your website? ...in other words, each time you add a new affiliate site to your account do you receive a NEW PID that's associated with that particular website?

I know I'm missing something here!

Thankx again for your time and help!

Patti

Yes, you could. I think that is more for CJ's tracking purposes then it actually serving a purpose as the PID is connected directly to your CJ account so either way, you get paid. On the main account page, it will tell you where you generated revenue from and if you dont care to have a detailed report listing each site it came from, then it would not matter.

I thought about adding that into the instructions but I think it will only confuse the people we want to affiliate our stores.

Hope that helps! Smiler

~Shannon

PS - you are all most welcome! I plan on changing my pages tomorrow since we had a day full of manual labor (yard work) at our house today! Wink

Which, if you already have a recruiting page, will take the place of the following in your code box:

~Shannon

I tried this code and it didn't work. I even put the old code back in just to test, and the old code worked. Have you tested it? If it works for you, I know I've screwed something up somewhere. Thank you Shannon!

It works fine k8, obviously it's not going to work with XXXXXXX - replace it with a number.

k8-

You have to have a valid PID in the code line or it will just bring you back to the same page your are on. I guess it is CJ's "fail safe" device to make sure they dont affiliate a site for free. Wink

My DogWire, 8PawsUp and Angel Cove affiliate pages are now up to date with the new code and layout. I have even included a link for the step-by-step guide should a prospective affiliate need it. Please feel free to copy the document to your own server to help alleviate bandwidth on mine. I am going to see if CafePress will approve it and place it on their own page. If you dont have your own host server, then feel free to link directly to the PDF, where it currently resides. I know some people just use CP and not a host server (website domain) so I dont want to stop anyone from being able to use it. Wink

Please let me know if you have any questions.

~Shannon

PS- I changed the file name and where it is located on my server to make sure all web browers are compatible. The new URL is: http://www.dogwiregifts.com/affiliate/Shop_Affiliate_Guide.pdf

First, thank you so much Shannon for all the time you put into making this very helpful guide. I am just starting to look through this all and did wonder about something. In the following link, what is the "10463747"? Is that exclusive to you, or is that the same for every shopkeeper? I'm sure that's a really stupid question but it's got me stumped! Thank you again!

Hi Michigal,

That number in the link is the Ad ID. It is a CJ identifier for CafePress. The only number there that is specific to the affiliate is the one that will be put in the place of the Xs

Thanks everyone! It was interesting to put together a "how to" after so long but it was actually fun. I am going to update the original link post to show the new link to the document and I will be sending it to CP later this morning to see what they think. Please let me know if you need any other help. Smiler

~Shannon

PS - Did you re-vote for the CafePress Voice Committee. If not, make sure you do today since the polls close tonight! Big Grin
