I AM CONFUSED, I AM NOT REGISTERED IN ANY AFFILIATE PROGRAM BUT STILL I MADE A SALE TODAY AND SOME AFFILIATE TOOK 4 OFF MY PROFIT. AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO REGISTER IN THIS AFFILIATE PROGRAMS FOR THEM TO TAKE YOUR MONEY WHEN THEY HELP YOU MAKE A SELL, SO HOW COME IT'S TAKING PART OF MY PROFIT IF A NEVER REGISTER IN A PROGRAM LIKE THAT. I AM VERY UPSET AND CONFUSE, I FEEL AS IF I AM BEING ROBBED, HOW CAN THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY WITHOUT YOU EVEN BEING REGISTER IN AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM, MY STORE IS JGDESIGNSTUDIO, I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY KIND OF AFFILIATION WITH ANYONE SO HOW COME THEY ARE GETTING MY HARD WORKED PROFIT FOR MY STORE? THIS IS SO UNFAIR, HOW CAN I FIGURE OUT WHO THIS AFFILIATE THAT TOOK MY MONEY IS? CAN THEY EXPLAIN WHY THEY ARE MAKING MONEY OFF MY SALES WITHOUT MY CONSENT?

First of all, two things...

First.. Lose the all caps posting.. It just comes off as screaming and the people in the community are less likely to read your posts..
Second.. Please don't cross post.. It's against the forum rules. I deleted your post in the Affiliates Looking for shops forum and kept this one mainly because you are not an affiliate looking for shops so the post was inappropriate there...

Now that that is out of the way, the reason an affiliate got a portion of your sale is because they drove a shopper to your shop. It is likely that if the affiliate hadn't sent you the shopper, you wouldn't have got the sale in the first place. So the affiliate isn't "robbing" you of 20% of the profit, they actually gave you 80% of a sale you may have never seen.

If you would rather affiliates not help you market your shop and you don't want to participate in the marketplace, you must opt out of it. All shops are in the marketplace making them available to affiliates by default. If you don't opt out, then affiliates can help sell your stuff.

Edit: just deleted from announce and share affiliate-ready shops as well.. Quit cross-posting...

Hi, JG Designs!

If you want to opt-out of affiliate sales you can. Here are the steps:

  • When you first log-in to Cafe Press, select the manage your shop link. The "Shop Management" page appears.
  • On this page, select Adjust Shop Information. The "Shop Information" page appears.
  • Scroll down to the "Preferences" section. Check the Affiliate Eligibility Opt-out box.

Please note that if you check this box, your products will not appear in the Cafe Press Marketplace nor will they be available for use by Affiliates. That means you must drive all the traffic to your products yourself.

I personally have opted-in for affiliate sales. I think it is a great way to help each other out. They drive traffic to my products and if part of that traffic buys my stuff, they get a little - and I get some, too. It's a great way to boost sales.

Good luck with your CP shop!
