I get an error message saying "could not be found". I checked that is my right PID, although it's called a Commission Junction "account number". I see no other number to be used.
There are two problems with your links, one of which is what is causing them not to work. You put your "pid" in the wrong place. You need to replace the letters PID with your PID. The number you replaced is the CafePress AID which needs to be put back for the link to work.
The second problem wouldn't cause the link to not work, but will cause you not to get paid. Your CJ account number is NOT your PID. To find your PID you need to go into your CJ account settings and under your website settings you will see a PID listed. An easier way to find it is to select a banner on CJ and select Get HTML. It will show your PID on the window that opens along with the HTML for that banner.
Tanith has a good guide on building CJ links. The link to it and a bunch of other information that would be useful to ya is contained within my post that is stickied at the top of the affiliate help forum. Some of them might save you a little frustration.
Good luck on getting your affiliate stuff up and running!
1. Thank God for time differences, assuming you are in the West. I wanted so to have these in the autoresponder when I send out the promo tomorrow morning.
3. Great pitchers. I checked out the creatures. Is your site affiliate friendly?
4. Is there a way of making a special discount for only certain people, or of cutting part of my commission to the buyer, or anything that would make it easy to make a special offer to the buyer?
5. Should be #1: Thank you very much for saving me from distress!
Hyphen missing.. put the hyphen back in between the word click and your pid number. But please don't post the corrected link containing your pid here on the forums. Just make the link look exactly like in the samples on the link building pages except replace the text PID with your number and replace the url with your url and you should be golden.
Thanks for compliment on my photos. They are available to affiliates.
And no thanks necessary for the help. Thats one of the things the community is here for.
In prev. msg. there are 2 sets of #'s, one beginning with 27, and another, following a hyphen, beginning with 104. Both sets of numbers belong in there? Or what else can the matter be?
every link from the commission junction site has a different second number.
If I am entering from cafepress and not from commission junction, how do I know what is the second number to put between my pid and the cafepress store's url?
The weather is getting very tired on the East Coast.
ok i used the cafepress campaign number from the tutorial and the decent lincque pracqtices.
I think maybe the mistake is clicking on a product from the search, then...wait a minute. Maybe the search was not within affiliate bounds.
But if it was, I clicked on the store then took the store i.d. or theme page i.d. and not the product that was listed. late, foggy, must sleep now and think later. sorry.
Erik, plug in your link and id information into this tool and it will generate a proper link format for you. - then compare to what you've created to see how it should look
